GRS Global Recycling Standard:

The Global Recycling Standard (GRS) is an international, voluntary, complete product standard that sets requirements for recycled content, chain of custody, social and environmental practices, and chemical restrictions.

the Global Recycling Standard (GRS) was originally developed by the Control Union Certifications in 2008 and ownership was transferred to the Textile Exchange on 1 January 2011. The GRS is an international, voluntary full product standard that sets requirements for third-party certification of recyclables, chain of custody, social and environmental practices, and chemical restrictions.

The GRS is designed to meet the needs of companies that want to verify the recyclables of their products (finished and intermediate products) and to verify responsible social, environmental and chemical practices in their production. The goal of the GRS is to determine the requirements to ensure accurate content claims and a good working environment, and to minimize harmful environmental and chemical effects. These include companies that do ginning, spinning, weaving and knitting, dyeing and weaving in more than 50 countries.
