IEC 63056 standard mainly covers the following aspects:
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS the standard specifies the safety performance standards that must be met by secondary lithium batteries and battery packs for power energy storage, including the basic safety requirements for the physical structure, electrical performance, and environmental adaptability of the battery. These requirements are designed to ensure the safe performance of batteries and battery packs under normal use and abnormal conditions.
Additional or special requirements: In addition to the basic safety requirements, the standard also provides some additional requirements for specific types or applications to meet the needs of specific industries or application areas. These additional requirements may relate to specific test methods, procedures, or performance metrics.
Test Item: In order to verify the safety performance of batteries and battery packs, the standard specifies a series of test items, including ball pressure test, heat resistance test, fire rating test of thermoplastic materials, insulation impedance test, charging procedure test, external short circuit test, anti-reverse connection test, over-discharge voltage control and drop test. These test items are designed to evaluate the safety performance of cells and battery packs under various conditions.

the IEC 63056 standard only gives additional or special requirements for secondary lithium batteries and batteries for electric energy storage, and its basic safety requirements are specified in IEC 62619.
The IEC 63056 standard does not apply to portable systems up to 500Wh covered by IEC 61960-3.
