UL2809-OBP certification profile:
Ocean Bound Plastic abbreviated as OBP, is an improperly managed plastic waste that is left in the environment, where it gets transported to the ocean by rain, wind, tides, rivers, floods.
Ocean Bound Plastic refers to waste plastic waste (microplastics, mesoplastics, and large plastics) of various sizes, located in communities within 50 kilometers of the coast or in areas where waste management is non-existent or very inefficient. Plastic waste in landfills or managed dumps is not considered OBP, but plastic waste in uncontrolled informal dumps is considered OBP if it is within 50km of the coast.
