UL Certification-Uninterruptible Power System ul1778 certification scope:
Uninterruptible power supply system: UPS is an uninterruptible power supply (Uninterruptible Power Supply), which is an uninterruptible power supply containing energy storage devices. It is mainly used to provide uninterrupted power supply for some equipment with high power stability requirements.
When the mains power input is normal, the UPS supplies the mains power to the load for use after stabilizing the voltage. At this time, the UPS is an AC voltage regulator, and it also charges the battery in the machine. When the mains power is interrupted (accidental power failure), UPS immediately supplies 220V AC power to the load through inverter switching conversion method, so as to maintain the normal operation of the load and protect the software and hardware of the load from damage. UPS equipment usually provides protection against high voltage or low voltage.
2.1.1 UL1778 equipment Covered
the UL1778 standard is applicable to uninterruptible power supply systems (UPS). The main function of this standard UPS is to ensure the continuity of AC power. The uninterruptible power supply system can also improve the quality of the power supply by maintaining the power supply within a specified characteristic orientation. This standard is applicable to mobile, fixed and built-in UPS AC for power distribution systems up to 600V. This equipment is designed to meet the requirements of Canadian Electrical Code Part I CSA C22.1 or National Electrical Code ANSI/NFPA 70, and unless otherwise specified, please install electronic computer data protection standards as follows; Processing Equipment, ANSI/NFPA75.
The ul1778 standard specifies requirements designed to ensure the safety of operators and, in particular, maintenance personnel.
UL1778 the purpose of the standard is to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock or personal injury to equipment installed in a single device or a system of interconnected devices, but when the equipment is installed, operated and maintained in the manner specified by the manufacturer.
2.1.2 Other requirements
except ul1778 standard in addition to the requirements of the, UPS should also meet the relevant requirements of CAN/CSA-C22.2 NO.60950-1/ul60950-1 (March 2007, 2nd Edition, Information Technology Equipment-Safety). Part I: General Requirements (RD), applicable to the country where the product will be applied. If there is a conflict between the requirements of UL1778 and RD, the requirements of this standard shall prevail.
The direct current driven by the engine is a generator designed to provide backup power for the battery-powered circuit of the UPS. These devices were investigated to meet the requirements of ul2200 and CSAC22.2NO.100.
If a UPS uses a hospital-grade component identified by a "hospital-grade only" marking, or if the component has a green dot on the body, or suggests that it is suitable for medical use, it should be evaluated in accordance with the requirements of this standard and CAN/CSA-C22. No. 2 60601-1/ul60601-1.
For equipment that may enter water, additional requirements beyond those specified in this standard may be required; see Appendix LLL and Appendix T/RD for guidance on such requirements and related tests.
2.1.3 Excluded items
these requirements do not include UPS equipment used as a standby system required by law, as described in the National Electrical Code 701/ANSI/NFPA70, and as an emergency power source as described in Section 46 of CSA C22, Part I of the Canadian Electrical Code. 1. See Attachment LLL.
Where deemed appropriate, the required revisions will be proposed and adopted in accordance with the methodology for specifying, revising and implementing this standard.
Note 1: For devices with transient overvoltages exceeding IEC60664 category II, additional protection may be required. Such additional protection can be located in the AC power supply of the device as an integrated design of the device, or it can be located in the device.
Note 2: If the additional protection is part of the equipment sterilization requirements, the creepage distance and electrical clearance from the main line to the load side of the additional protection can be judged as Class III or Class IV as required. According to needs, all insulation requirements, creepage distance and electrical clearance on the load side of the additional protection device can be judged as Class I or Class II.
2.1.4 Other applications
Ul1778 Standard it does not cover all types of UPS, but can be used as a guide for such equipment. In some cases, for some specific applications, in addition to the requirements specified in the ul1778 standard, other requirements are also necessary.
a: Equipment operating under conditions such as exposure to extreme temperatures: excessive dust, moisture or vibration; possibly gases or corrosive or explosive atmospheres.
B: UPS equipment based on rotating machinery;
c: UPS equipment that meets the emergency lighting and power supply requirements specified in ul924: and the central power supply system described in CSA C22.2 NO 141-10.
3. Information to be submitted
1. Product name: Provide the whole process of the product.
2. Product model: list in detail all the required experimental product models' variety or classification number, etc.
3. Product nameplate: including product model, electrical parameters, manufacturer information, production date, UL logo.
4. The intended use of the product: assume: home appliances/commercial, indoor/outdoor, etc.
5. Parts list: list in detail the parts and models (file numbers), ratings and names of manufacturers that make up the product.
6. Electrical properties: for electrical and electronic products. Provide electrical schematics (wiring diagrams),PCBLAYOUT
7. Structure diagram: For most products, product structure diagram or explosion diagram, ingredient list, etc. shall be provided.
8. Product instructions and installation instructions, etc.
9. UL special application form for specific products.
