IEC 62368-1 is an international product safety standard. Its purpose is to classify different categories according to the amount of energy and propose effective safety measures, thereby reducing the danger of energy sources to personnel, reducing the possibility of equipment fires, and reducing Property damage.
Product range of IEC 62368-1:
IEC 62368-1 covers electronic and electrical equipment, audio and video products, information technology products, commercial office automation equipment not exceeding 600V, power products, monitors, televisions, notebook computers, personal computers and computer peripheral products.
Common test items of IEC 62368-1:
1. Basic requirements (component structure, label and description, energy quantity classification and protection, safety protection, explosion)
2. Damage caused by electricity (protection of electric energy sources, insulation materials and requirements, safety protection components)
3. Fire caused by electricity (classification of power sources and potential ignition sources, fire safety protection, internal and external wiring)
4. Damage
caused by harmful substances 5. Mechanical damage injury
6. Burning
7. Radiation (radiation energy source classification, safety protection of laser radiation, safety protection of acoustic energy source)
Application process for IEC 62368-1:
1. Provide sample
2. Fill in the application form
3. Provide information required by the product, such as: product specification, product model list (series model), circuit diagram and PCB LAYOUT key component list and certification certificate, nameplate and other
4. Sample test and report after passing the test Note: When applying for IEC certification, the countries to be considered for inclusion in the report shall be informed, so that the corresponding country differences are taken into account in the test.
The mandatory date of EN IEC 62368-1:2020 (3rd edition) has been extended by 18 months from January 06, 2023 to July 06, 2024, which means that the repeal date of EN 62368-1:2014 (2nd edition) has been officially extended to July 06, 2024.
Before July 06, 2024, EN 62368-1:2014 (2nd edition) can still be used to apply for CE certification.
