UL certification, how to set the factory the most reasonable?

SRF 2024-10-11 14:13

As we all know, do UL certification, in addition to the product UL certification costs, there are annual fees and factory inspection fees.

The annual fee for UL certification is charged according to the number of factories under UL file number or UL control code (hereinafter referred to as CCN). Simply put, if an applicant for UL certification has multiple UL file numbers or CCN, but only one factory, then only one annual fee is required.
UL certification factory inspection fees are charged according to CCN and the number of factories. Simply put, if a UL certification applicant has multiple CCNs but only one factory, then the factory inspection fees are charged according to the number of CCNs. For example, a UL certification applicant has 8 CCNs and a factory charges 8 factory inspection fees.

The above is the case of only one factory under the UL file number or CCN of an applicant. So if there are more than one factory under the UL file number or CCN of an applicant, how to set up the factory will be more reasonable?

If there are multiple factories under UL file number or CCN of UL certification applicant, first of all, different factories are recommended to be placed under different Volume.

Definition of different volume: factories under the same volume can view all product reports of this volume, and factories under this volume can view all factories authorized under this volume on the authorization page. Some big customers don't want factories to know each other's existence, and will require different volume to put different factories.
If the customer does not need to distinguish volume, the processing plant can be in the authorization page of the existing volume. In this case, the report under the UL file number will be shared with all factories. Please pay attention to this.

If the model in a UL report needs to be produced by both factory a and factory B, and the customer requires to be split into different volumes and put into different factories, then two volumes need to be set up (I .e. the same report is shared in different volumes, each volume has a separate factory, and each factory can only see the report and authorization page of its own volume. I don't know about other volumes).

So if there are multiple factories set up under the UL file number or CCN of an applicant, how will the UL certification annual fee and factory inspection fee be charged?
The annual fee for UL certification, as mentioned above, is charged according to the number of factories under UL file number or UL controlled CCN, that is, several factories under UL file number or CCN will charge several annual fees.

UL certification factory inspection fee is charged according to the factory binding CCN. For example, there are 2 CCN under the name of an applicant: FKSZ and IFAM respectively, 2 factories under FKSZ (2 factory inspection fees will be generated) and 3 factories under IFAM (3 factory inspection fees will be generated), and a total of 5 factory inspection fees will be generated. If a factory is only in different volume, but the CCN is the same, there will be no more factory inspection costs.
