Battery UL Certification 2022 Releases New Regulations: UL 1973:2022
-Add Clause 16: High-rate discharge test;
-Added Clause 18: Discharge overload test;
-Added Clause 27: Electromagnetic immunity test, namely EMC test requirements (refer to IEC 61000-4 series related requirements);
-About the energy storage battery using echelon use of the battery and battery pack, to meet the UL 1974 echelon use of battery evaluation standards;
-Regarding the battery cell, the reference UL 1642 difference test scheme is no longer valid, the battery cell needs to be tested in accordance with Annex E, and there are two battery cell test schemes available;
-Added clause 7.7 for the transformer requirements, to meet UL 1562, UL 1310 or other equivalent standards, at the same time, the transformer's primary side should be equipped with over-current protection device; located in the low-voltage circuit of the transformer (ie ≤ 60 VDC) can also be based on clause 26.6 in the test for evaluation;
-About high voltage isolation of the relevant requirements reference standard from UL 60950-1 replaced by UL 62368-1;
-Add sodium ion cell test requirements, refer to lithium ion cell test method;
-Introduce the concept of SELV, Canada's definition of dangerous voltage and the United States requirements: greater than 42.4 Vpeak or 60 Vdc;
-Clear for car/RV backup energy storage system to meet UL1973, reference LER battery evaluation method;
-Short circuit test increases the field installation or maintenance module when there is a short circuit risk test assessment, this case also needs to consider the battery module short circuit test;
-Refined functional safety assessment requirements;
-Added cell identification requirements;
-Clear the battery core test capacity inspection requirements, the test capacity shall not be less than the declared capacity;
-Added metal-air battery test evaluation method;
-added lead-acid battery, nickel-cadmium battery test evaluation method.
