As Europe is about to enter the winter, due to the increasing energy crisis, natural gas gap and other factors, the use of natural gas in many European countries is limited, which increases the demand for heating. The export orders of related enterprises in China have increased significantly, and the demand in the European market has soared.
■ According to data from Alibaba International Station, the demand for heating electrical equipment increased by more than 40% year-on-year, of which electric blankets increased by more than 70% year-on-year, and electric heaters increased by more than 50% year-on-year.
■ According to data from the General Administration of Customs, from January to May 2022, the average monthly number of electric blankets imported by the 27 EU countries was 139800, rising to 521000 in June and 1.29 million in July, up nearly 150 percent from the previous month, while the number climbed to 1.4 million in August.
With the electric heater market so hot, how can companies enter the EU market more smoothly, and what relevant certification requirements do electric heater products need to meet when entering the EU region?
Certification requirements
CE certification it is a compulsory certification for products exported to EU countries and a passport for manufacturers to enter the European market. In the EU market, the "CE" mark is a compulsory certification mark. Whether it is a product produced by an enterprise within the EU or a product produced by other countries, if it wants to circulate freely in the EU market, it must be affixed with the "CE" mark to show that the product meets the basic requirements of the EU [New Method for Technical Coordination and Standardization] Directive.

2. ROHS certification
RoHS is a mandatory standard formulated by EU legislation. Its full name is "Directive on Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Components in Electrical and Electronic Equipment" (Restriction of Hazardous Substances). The standard has been formally implemented on July 1, 2006. It is mainly used to standardize the material and process standards of electronic and electrical products to make it more conducive to human health and environmental protection. On June 8, 2011, the EU announced a new version of the RoHS directive (2011/65/EU,RoHS2.0), and replaced the original 2002/95/EC(RoHS1.0) on January 3, 2013.
On June 4, 2015, the European Union issued amendment (EU) 2015/863, which officially included four phthalates (DEHP,BBP,DBP,DIBP) in the restricted list of RoHS 2.0, stipulating other electronic and electrical products except medical equipment and monitoring equipment.

"Registration,Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals; Registration,Evaluation, Licensing and Restriction of Chemicals". This is the EU's regulation on the preventive management of all chemicals entering its market, which was formally implemented on June 1, 2007. The REACH directive requires that all chemicals imported and produced in Europe must go through a comprehensive set of procedures such as registration, evaluation, authorization and restriction, so as to better and more simply identify the composition of chemicals to achieve the purpose of ensuring environmental and human safety. The directive mainly includes several items such as registration, evaluation, authorization and restriction. Any commodity must have a registration file that lists the chemical components and describes how the chemical components are used by the manufacturer and the toxicity assessment report.

4. ErP certification
ErP = Energy-related Products, I .e. energy-related products, are closely related to many important environmental factors in their life cycle, such as production, distribution and use. The EU's ERP Directive aims to establish a coherent legal framework for the environmentally friendly design of energy-consuming products. The European Union stipulates that all electronic and electrical products sold in Europe must meet ERP testing or ERP certification requirements (product energy saving requirements related to European energy consumption).
Energy-related household heating appliances, products that have an impact on energy consumption during use, including built-in parts and accessories that can be independently evaluated for environmental performance, except for the following products.
(1) means of transportation of persons or goods;
(2) The household heating appliances that have issued the implementation instructions include: standby and shutdown power consumption of household and office electronic appliances (such as electric blankets, electric heaters), and local space electric heaters (such as electric heaters).
