UL508 it is the testing standard for testing industrial control products (such as relays, circuit breakers, pressure switches, etc.), which is the testing basis for exporting to North America to obtain UL certification. The performance of industrial control equipment should be verified by testing typical samples or samples in commercial trade in accordance with the test items: temperature rise test, overvoltage and undervoltage test, overload test, durability test, dielectric withstand voltage test, etc., and those tests are required to be carried out in accordance with the operation sequence shown in Table 42.1.
Those temperature or current sensitive devices or systems that lead to the termination of a test item should undergo additional evaluation (testing) to determine their suitability for their application. Unless otherwise specified, the test shall be 10-40(50-104℉) at any ambient temperature. The ambient temperature shall be measured by installing a thermometer or thermocouple in the vicinity of the equipment.
Industrial control equipment with incompletely enclosed or partial enclosures will be considered as an open (no enclosure) device for the purposes of this standard.
