UL1977 Test Methods and Criteria

-Accelerated Aging accelerated aging test (this test is required for rubber and PVC insulation)

Accelerated aging test is mainly on the connector containing rubber (rubber) and PVC material products to do the test.

its test conditions are that the product is placed in an air-circulating oven, and the temperature in the oven of rubber is 100±2°C for 70 hours; the temperature in the oven of PVC is 100±1°C for 96 hours.

There is no deformation on the appearance after removal, and the hardness change cannot exceed 10 points. If the product has multiple colors of plastic, then each color must be done.

- Mold Stress Relief Injection Stress Release Test

test conditions:

1. It is necessary to install all the connectors into finished products without mutual cooperation,

2. The minimum temperature is not lower than 70°C and is higher than the maximum working temperature specified by the customer (but not higher than the RTI value of the plastic) or the maximum temperature of the temperature rise test. These two temperatures are even higher by 10°C.

Result judgment:

the product must not show any distortion, shrinkage, or other deformation.

Thermosetting materials are not required to do this test.

- Overload Test overload test (with live plug function)

test conditions:

1. The current used in the test is 1 or 5 times of the rated current of the product.

2. The test voltage is within the range of 95%-105 of the rated voltage value of the product (the voltage value given when the current is AC is between 75%-80% of the rated voltage of the product)

3. During the test, a grounding fuse is connected. The specification of the fuse is determined by the rated current of the product. When the rated current of the product is less than 30A, 15A fuse is selected. When the rated current of the product is> 30A, 30A fuse is used. The test method is 50 times of live plugging and unplugging, and the frequency of plugging and unplugging is less than 10 times per minute.

Result judgment:

1. The mechanical structure of the connector shall not fail, the contact shall be free from corrosion, or the burning shall not affect the use function.

2. The grounding fuse cannot be disconnected.

- Temperature Test Temperature Rise Test

Test requirements and results:

1. Layout: The temperature rise test points shall be arranged on the Terminal (at the connection terminal). When the contact terminal of the product is crimped and plate-connected, the crimping terminal can be made with a replacement plate-connected terminal.

2. All terminals with the same current must be connected in series to form a loop to pass the same current.

3. Test with the smallest wire diameter and the largest number of terminals in series.

4. The ambient temperature of the test is 25±5°C.

5. When various terminals of the product have different currents, the test circuit of each terminal needs to be separated and carried out at the same time.

The highest temperature of the tested temperature cannot exceed the RTI value of the plastic material.

7, the test time is 4 hours, temperature rise data in the last 15 minutes, every 5 minutes, three consecutive readings should be consistent.

8. The products of Typo 0 and typo 1A can not be tested for temperature rise without specifying the current.

- Dielectric Voltage-Withstand withstand voltage test

test requirements:

1, must be measured immediately after the temperature rise test. (It is to be resistant to high pressure under heat)

2. When testing, the nearest part between the charged body contacts should be selected for testing.

3. Measure between the charged body and the exposed uncharged metal and between the shell.

4. The test voltage is generally AC. If DC is used, 1 or 414 times of alternating current must be used.

5. Typo 0 products do not need to be tested for voltage resistance.

6. Typo 1B type products adopt AC500V.

7. Typo 1A 2 3 4 type products use 1000 volts plus twice the rated voltage of the product

8. Typo 5 type products need to meet the requirements of the corresponding finished product standards, but the minimum value cannot be less than 2200V.

Result judgment:

the product can withstand the corresponding voltage for 1 minute without being broken down by the arc.

- Resistance to arc test

the test conditions are the same as the overload test, requiring more plugging and unplugging for 200 times. The arc resistance test is mainly aimed at insulating materials. After the test, the plastic of the product is not allowed to be ignited and permanent carbon marks are not allowed.

The arc resistance test is done after the overload test, the temperature rise test, and the voltage resistance test, and all need to be the same sample.

- Conductor Secureness Test tensile test

1. Do the test only for the crimp terminal.

2, the tensile force should be in line with the line and force of the comparison table.

3. The test can bear the relative pulling force for 1 minute, and it is not allowed to fall off.

- Grounding Impedance Test grounding impedance test (with grounding function to do)

test conditions:

1. The test current is 40A, and the test voltage ≤ 6V 60HZ lasts for 2 minutes under no load.

Result judgment:

impedance not exceeding 0.1Ω

which products need to do grounding impedance test:

1. For connectors with grounding terminals, there is a clear grounding symbol on the product.

2. There are terminal metal shell fixed metal parts on the product.

Most of the metal is connected to the terminal.

- Flammability Test burning test (not provided yellow card needs to be done)

the main standard of combustion test is UL94, which is mainly divided into two test methods:

1. Horizontal combustion test (the test result can reach HB level)

2. Vertical burning test. (Combustion grade can be divided into V-2 V-1 V-0 5VA 5VB)

12mm flame burning test conditions:

1. Store for 7 days in the temperature conditions of the injection stress release test.

2. Take it out and place it in an environment with a temperature of 23°C ± 2°C and a humidity of 50±5 for 4 hours.

3, with a height of 12mm for the flame, two combustion 30 seconds, each combustion interval of 1 minute.

4. The length of the sample for the combustion test is generally 35mm and the thickness is 0.5mm.

5. The gas used in the combustion test is butane.

After the flame leaves, it will burn for no more than 1 minute.

After passing the test, the flame retardant grade reaches the V-2 grade or above the V-2 grade.
