Portable energy storage products UL certification standard update

SRF 2024-10-11 17:11

Portable energy storage products UL certification standards: UL 2743.

American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and Canadian Standards Council (SCC) published ANSI /CAN/ UL 2743:2023 on April 14, 2023

UL 2743 on portable energy storage product test update:
1, improve the safety/control circuit evaluation method, the addition of a single component failure as UL 60730-1 options.

2. The newly added wireless charging power shall not exceed 240VA.

3. Added LVLE requirements.

4, new tilt test exception requirements, no more than 7kg of products do not need to evaluate the tilt test.

5, improve the leakage current test, non-AC input products, measuring input/output and ground terminal/can contact the metal parts between the leakage current.

6. Perfect overcharge test for maximum charging voltage and current:

a) Universal charging port with the maximum charging voltage and 3 times the maximum charging current, charging 1.25 hours while considering a single failure;

B) Non-universal charging port with external charger or internal charging line of the maximum charging voltage and current, charging 1.25 hours while considering a single failure.

7. Add more than 1kWh lithium battery pack requirements:

a) Battery pack thermal runaway test;

B) restricted use of places, can not be used in the bedroom or can live in the space.

8, new output and interconnection line pull test.

9, improve the impact and drop test of low temperature pretreatment temperature, 0 ℃ or manufacturer specified temperature (less than 0 ℃) for pretreatment.

10. Modify the drop test for different weight products: more than 18kg for one 0.9m drop and no more than 18kg for three 0.9m drops.

11. Perfect the rain test

a) The judgment condition is updated to: water cannot touch live parts and dangerous energy parts, and water cannot be above these parts.

B) with fan products in the fan running and stop state need to be evaluated.

c) Add 2 new waterproof grades, "rainproof" and "raintight".

12, improve the emergency start power test method.

13. The newly added tag shall meet UL 969A.
