UL Standard for Connector Testing

The purpose of the connector temperature rise test is to ensure the safety of the connector under long-term load,,

the test method is as follows:
the male and female connectors are grouped together and all terminals are connected in series in a loop.
Connect one to an array of hot spot even wires to the terminal of the object to be tested according to the recorder capability.
Pass the rated current on the circuit, because the current flows through the terminal to form work, so that the contact temperature rises, and then through the thermocouple wire to measure the temperature change.
The test time is 5hrs.
Unless otherwise specified, the temperature difference shall not exceed 30 ℃.

Note:
thermometer wires are divided into positive and negative poles, so special attention should be paid to wiring.
When measuring, attention should be paid to the surrounding environment to avoid environmental factors (cold air convection) affecting the measurement accuracy.

Key points:
the entire loop reaches thermal equilibrium under the load current before starting to measure temperature changes.
The test current/voltage is the rated working current and working voltage.
The duration of the load current voltage is in accordance with the time required for the circuit to reach thermal equilibrium.
