North American UL EPD Product Environmental Label
Introduction
The Environmental Protection Agency is a comprehensive and international report prepared by product manufacturers to record the impact of products on the environment during their life cycle. Ul certifies that all the information in the epd completed by the manufacturer is accurate.
Environmental Protection Agency Development Process
The ul environment is developed in five steps to conform to the epds of the ISO 14025 International Organization for Standardization.
1. Find a suitable product category rule (pcr).
The first step in creating an epd is to find or create a pcr suitable for a specific product category. Pcrs provides calculation and reporting requirements for the creation of life cycle assessments (lcas) and epds. Please click here to learn more about ul's pcr library.
2. Carry out and verify the product lca.
Lca is a comprehensive report that documents the impact of a product from cradle to grave. Once an LCA is performed on a particular product, it must be verified by an independent party to ensure that it meets the requirements defined in PCR, iso 14040 and iso 14044.
3. Prepare the Environmental Protection Agency.
The EPA will present the results of the life cycle assessment, as well as additional information about product performance and other sustainability attributes.
4. Check with the Environmental Protection Agency.
An independent third party will thoroughly review and verify the research results submitted by the Environmental Protection Department. Register with the Environmental Protection Agency.
5. Ul register and publish the information of Environmental Protection Agency to its repository. Epd is usually valid for five years.
