U.S. Green Guard Certification
Indoor air quality has become a topic of increasing concern around the world. People spend 90% of their time indoors, and the pollution degree of indoor air is 2 to 5 times higher than that of outdoor air. The home decoration building materials that people come into contact with daily may release a large amount of harmful chemicals, which are the source of indoor air pollution. The GREENGUARD certification program makes it possible to control indoor pollution from the source. The program helps manufacturers manufacture and help consumers identify indoor products and materials with low chemical emissions, thereby improving indoor air quality.
The GREENGUARD standard is currently one of the most stringent and comprehensive indoor air quality standards in the world. It is based on the chemical release standards established by California, the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and other well-known public health agencies. The standard strictly follows scientific principles, and refers to the results of comprehensive and advanced laboratory tests and data analysis. Through chemical substance release testing and research on products from more than 75,000 different industries, it can confirm the formaldehyde released into the air and more than 12,000 types. Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs).
The GREENGUARD standard is recognized by nearly 500 sustainable development projects worldwide and is an important reference for many green building codes, standards, guidelines, procurement policies and rating systems, including LEED®, CALGreen, CHPS, ASHRAE, Green Globes, NAHB, IgCC etc. At the same time, GREENGUARD certification has been cited by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in the US Federal Government Procurement Guidelines and is recommended as a reference for the procurement of federally used products.
GREENGUARD is suitable for more than 480 product types in 26 industries including building materials, furniture, electrical appliances, medical equipment, cleaning products, textiles, paints and coatings. So far, more than 11,000 GREENGUARD certified products have been widely used in houses, schools, hospitals and offices to create a healthier living environment for the public.
GREENGUARD certification level
GREENGUARD certification level
It is the first voluntary indoor air quality certification in North America, developed specifically for commercial building products. Certified products need to meet more than 360 strict VOC release standards and restrictions on total chemical release. The certified furniture products also meet the BIFMA x7.1 standard of the American Furniture Association. |

GREENGUARD Gold Certification Gold certification is specially developed for sensitive individuals (such as children and the elderly). This level of testing not only sets the world’s most stringent emission limits for more than 360 VOCs, and imposes restrictions on other hazardous chemical substances. The certified product meets the requirements of CA01350 in version 1.1 (2010) of the California Department of Public Health's standard method for VOC testing and evaluation of indoor sources of release using environmental test chambers. |
